It didn't last for 1/2 a season.
The first guy was right. This thing does not have an OHV engine. It seemed underpowered and was so noisy and rattled so much I had to wear earmuffs. There is nowhere to wind up and store the extremely stiff, unmanagable, hose or anywhere to carry a container for detergent or other additive. And I was extremely surprised when the useally reliable B&S engine developed a rod knock. Now I need a new engine or a crank and connecting rod.

Misleading description
Note that this item does NOT have a OHV engine. Check Briggs and Stratton website, it states it has the quantum engine. The rating is for the description, not the pressure washer itself since I bought a different one after learning of the lack of a OHV engine.

Great pressure washer,,,poor deliverly
Like the other review my pressure washer when delivered was turned upside down and all the washer pump oil leaked all over in the box. I called briggs and stratton 1-800# and after speaking with a representitive, briggs and stratton sent a bottle of oil to me which arrived at my door step in two days free of charge. Made sure all the oil was out of the pump and put the new oil into the pump and I was in buisness, as it works like a champ. I purchased some quick connectors for the hoses and I'm very pleased with the unit. Could not find one cheaper, the only bad thing is deliverly. UPS turns their boxes upside down reguardless what the box says. You would think when part of the box leaks oil and the odor of pump oil is like gear oil you would think they would get a clue. I did advised briggs and stratton that the pump oil should be separate like the engine oil is.They stated they would look into it,,,ya right!,,what ever. Just be careful if you order a pressure washer,,pump oil may have run out of it. Don't run the pump,, call B&S and they should help you out.

This pressure washer is a dandy. The OHV Briggs with AR pump and a sturdy well built cart, runs like a champ. Plenty of pressure, be careful it can blow the siding off your house. Amazon has the lowest price I've seen ,with free shipping what more could one ask for.

Great power washer, but don't buy from Amazon.com.
I ordered this power washer after weeks of research. Turns out I could save $100+ by ordering online rather than purchasing locally (after discounts and incentives). The first shipment never made it to me--damaged in transit by UPS. The second shipment arrived to me damaged--again by UPS--as the entire unit was tipped over and much of the pump oil had spilled all over the inside. After days of waiting for a resolution, I finally decided to just return the product, which Amazon.com accepted without arguing, but the return process was a hassle--have to empty all oil from unit then wait 7 days for evaporation before it can be safely shipped. So even after accepting the return, and my instruction not to send a replacement, Amazon.com sent another replacement unit--refused delivery of this one as I was very ticked off at Amazon.com. Turns out the problem is with their delivery carrier. It seems that UPS does not understand what "THIS SIDE UP" means. I finally purchased the unit at a local dealer without any headaches and am very happy with its performance. No problems after 3-4 weeks of use, 2-3 hours at a time--very powerful. I came to learn later that some of the newer models ship with a safety cap to prevent pump oil leakage--the safety cap must be exchanged with a relief valve upon receipt of the unit. My unit from Amazon.com did not come with such a safety cap. So you can take your chances with Amazon.com and hope you get one with a safety cap, because I guarantee that UPS will tip the box over in transit. I am rating this power washer 1 star because of the delivery problem; the unit itself is 5-star without question.

Briggs and Stratton and make a nice pressure washer
Forgive me for not rating this specific pressure washer but I bought one just like it. I would like to share my experience with you, hoping it will help others. I bought a Generac pressure washer with a 6 HP Briggs and Stratton OHV engine. The washer was rated at 2250 PSI and 2.2 gallons per minute. It came with an aluminum head. Note the best washers have brass heads. To make a long story short, I was pressure washing some paint off of my basement walls when the pump head developed a crack, and I lost a lot of pressure. It was my fault. The reassurances that their is a pressure release valve didn't do the trick. The problem was that I washed a few sq ft, then put down the wand, wet vac'd the water, went into the other room to dump it, then came back and picked up the wand and washed some more. After an hour of this the head went. Lesson learned, be sure and keep the water flowing through the pump to keep it cool, while it is running, or risk losing the pump. The unit was 400 dollars new. When I contacted Generac they said, buy a new pressure washer. The head alone was over 200, and the pumps ceramic pistons or worse could be damaged as well. Depression set in. It had a two year warranty, which I was not aware of, when I winterized it and decided to deal with it next year. Their is light shining at the end of the tunnel. Boogle.com solves all. Just type in pressure washer parts, and up came pressurewasherparts.com. On their home page they had a special on a complete replacement pump for 189 dollars(an Anovi Riveri sp? with a brass head, none the less.)It was less than the cost of the replacement aluminum head alone from Generac. It was rated at 2400 PSI and 2.5 gallons per minute so it was an upgrade to boot. I simply unbolted the entire pump from the briggs, and bolted on the new pump. A few tweakings to tidy up the couplers with teflon tape to prevent leaks, and I was right back in business. Another thing worth mentioning is that I was at one time disappointed that I did not buy a washer with a Honda engine, but bought the Briggs instead. Well guess what? The Honda engines, as you can see by the reviews, are not holding up. Plastic internals. Give me the good old Briggs heavy metal, and it starts on the second pull. One last note is that the higher pressure washers do give you more pressure, and in some specific chores that can be beneficial, but overall the benefit to more power is that the job gets done a lot faster. Once you get close to 2000 PSI you can comfortably etch your sidewalk or deck. Less than that, break out a solution of 50/50 bleach and water, and wet mop it on before starting. With a 2000PSI+ you are etching an area about 3" wide. Holding it farther away, making it wider than that, and all you are doing is rinsing it off. With the greater pressure washers, 3500 PSI for example, you can cover a greater area with the same level of cleaning. Net result, more results in less time. Hope this was helpful.

This power washer itself works fine and is super powerful. I've used a friend's in the past, so I ordered one for myself. The functions are great, you get five nozzles, a 50 ft. hose that comes in super-handy when you're on the roof (or so you don't continually have to wheel the washer from place to place), and everything that it says it can do and comes with is true. It's almost a no-brainer purchase if you're looking for a powerful washer. Once you get it, you'll be happy with all the features. Hence, the five stars for the product. This, however, is more of a review of Briggs and Stratton and their, uh, "support," rather than a review of the actual product. Be scared, be very scared.
It goes like this: power washer arrives via UPS today. Upon opening the box, there is oil everywhere! On the engine and its parts, on the inside of the box. On my driveway. Maybe it leaked from the pump, maybe it was dropped and cracked the pump or the engine, who knows. I don't want to attempt to start it, because if it is damaged, surely they'll say I caused the damage and should have called Briggs & Stratton first. So, no problem, I'll call Briggs and Stratton because Amazon.com, rightfully so, says contact the manufacturer. Briggs & Stratton (in their infinite wisdom), says "Because we don't ship factory direct, you have to return it to the store." Huh? Right, I'll just take this 134 lb. machine, put it in my trunk, and go back to the building from where I purchased it. So, after finally convincing the Briggs & Stratton rep that Amazon.com doesn't have a store, and that their bright orange piece of paper included with the owner's manual shows in bold words, "Stop - Do Not Return to Store. Let Briggs & Stratton Help." the rep says, "Take it in for service. It's under a one year warranty." Mmmmkayy. Take a new product in for service? Uh, no! I don't want a refurbished product for $799, I want a new product for $799. IT'S NEW, it shouldn't need service while it's still in the box!!! Then, she says, "Call UPS." UPS says we need Amazon.com's shipping number (why, I don't know) and I'm quite sure Amazon.com will be more than happy to provide ME with their shipping number because they know & trust me so well. Once again, Amazon.com says call Briggs and Stratton. Anyone beginning to see a pattern forming? I call Briggs & Stratton's national HQ in Milwaulkee and, after explaining the above, the guy says, "Well, there's nothing I can do for you here." in a tone similar to one where I had asked him to explain the latest medical cloning procedure to me. Hmmmm. Funny, I thought I called (and you worked at) the Briggs & Stratton HQ.
Bottom line: Don't rely on Briggs and Stratton to make it right if you get a piece of their equipment that has been damaged. Their worthless. I'll rely on Mastercard to sift through it once I dispute the charge. I'm quite sure "BS" will make it right once they figure out that I've got a pressure washer and they're not getting their money - funny how that works.

It's been four months
So far, I haven't experienced any major problems with this machine. This is my first pressure washer, so I don't have much to compare it to. However, the product has delivered everything I've asked of it. The only problem is, an o-ring broke and it was the only size ring NOT supplied in the repair kit. Other than that, I am pleased with my purchase and expect many more years with this equipment as a part of my painting business.

This is the washer you want
I have a large barn, over 7000 square feet. It was never painted and the boards were a drab gray to black with green mold covering the lower three feet. I wanted the barn stained so I hired a bard painter to bleach, power wash, and paint the barn. He bleached and washed the barn, which got rid of most of the mold and gray, but the black spots were still there. I was not happy with the look because I was going to use a semi-transparent stain.
The bought the Briggs & Stratton Model 1808 3400 PSI Pressure Washer and started re-washing the barn. Wow! What a difference. The boards look band new. This washer has more than enough power to really clean the wood. The four gallons per minute allows you to move right along. Don't get to close or you can cause some serious damage to the wood with this washer. It took a little practice to back off at the end of each stroke so I was not going over the same spot at the full intensity more than once. The washer pump has an overheating protection device so if you let it idle for a minute or two, not to worry. I am using this wash for 8-10 hours at a time. It runs great.

powerful but average life
We bought this power washer for our used car dealership 3 yrs ago. Lots of power, wanted to spend more so it would last than the last "lowes" power washer. In 3 years weve replaced, 1 engine mounts, 2 the trigger handle (leaked) and hose, blown, 3 Detergent injector quit, 4 Now valves in pump are malfunctioning, running about 50% pressure, No one will "fix it" have to replace the pump (400.00!?). The engine still running fine. I stepped up to an industrial unit and it didnt last longer than the predecessor that was half the price. Humpf. Lots of power and we do use it hard, but...wasnt worth the upgrade.

Powerful compact Pressure Washer
Have been using an electric 1,250PSI washer for the last 12 years and decided to invest in this unit. After giving my driveway a cleaning this year, not only did I do it in 1/3 the time but the cleaning action was more complete. Unit arrived well-packed from the factory and once I put in the oil it started up with no hitch. If I had one suggestion to improve this, it would be the addition of some type of wheel system. Nevertheless, its easy enough to lug around with one hand. Highly recommended for multiple home cleaning projects.

So far, this has been a great unit. Small and easy to store but powerfull enough to really clean. Starts up in 1-2 pulls if you prime it a few time extra. Great Product and the best I have seen at its price point.

Better than small electric--just the right size
Definately glad I made this purchase. Works great, just the right size for urban household use; decks, driveways, washing your car (just don't get too close).
I initially bought a Karcher 1650 psi electric pressure washer which I had used to pressure wash my driveway and deck. (this washer is sold under many different brands, but its the same thing) It worked, but barely enough to do the job. I also had to use the special "pulsating" nozzle to get the job done.
I received a $100 gift certificate from my sister for Christmas, so I thought I would upgrade to something slightly bigger, as I just needed a little bit more 'oomph'. Definately glad I made the purchase.
It arrived with no problems, everything intact and with several accessories. I really like the mesh bag to hold all the parts and pieces. It was a 'warm' day in January, so I decided to fire it up. Filled it with oil, (its a four stroke, so no mixing oil w/ gas.). It was a bit hesitant to start, so I squired some starter fluid (automotive starter fluid) into the air filter, and it fired right up.
Its a bit loud versus electric, but about the same as a lawn mower. Definately has a lot more power than my electric version. I used it to clean a portion of my driveway, and it worked with no problems. Haven't tried the deck, but I'm sure it will work much better. Also used it to wash my car, and grimy wheels, did that with no problem. The single jet works extremely well for that job. It didn't get the baked on brake dust, but then again, I wouldn't expect it to capable of doing that.
What else, oh yes, definately like just having one "cord" the garden hose attaching to it, then you just have the spray gun. With the electric pressure washer, you're fumbling with the electric cord getting tangled up with the garden hose and sprayer hose. Then your electric extension cord gets dirty, grimy, gritty from all the stuff you're cleaning and you get that on you when you're wrapping up the power cord. So can you tell I hate the electric power cord? DEFINATELY like the gas model.
I'm every impressed with this little unit. Would be nice to have wheels, but its not that heavy--actually think its kind of light. (I am 5'10, 180lbs, and somewhat fit, so take that into consideration).
Definately glad I made this purchase, well worth it. Hihgly recommend for the home user who needs to wash vinyl siding on their house, pressure wash their deck, and other jobs around the house.
Thumbs up.

Questions & Answers
Question : Craftsman Gas Power washer, hose is dry rotted;?
I have a Craftsman Gas Power Washer 2250 psi, model number 580-768030, can anyone tell me the "special tool" used to disconnect the wand hose from the pump housing. My hose is dry rotted, need to replace, however, can't get the the connector disconnected from the pump housing.
Answer:
Is it a quick connect connection? Where there is a brass sleeve that you pull back and the connection pops apart.
It could have lime deposits making it stick. Try a pilers to wiggle it back and forth and spin the sleeve around.

Question : Oil in the gas tank of our power washer by mistake? What can flush the oil out?
By mistake and excitement oil was put in the gas tank of the new power washer we bought...How can it be flushed out??
We emptied the tank and washed it out with a dry cloth best we could...All info and help would be appreciated..
Right now we have gas in the gas tank but it coughs and pops and sputters like the Absent minded professors old car....hehehe
Thanks for the suggestions for how and what to flush this out with.... 8-)
Answer:
You mostly already have. Now remove by siphoning (or some other way) the contaminated gasoline, and refill with fresh gasoline. That should burn a lot better, but use it all the way down to empty, where it actually runs completely out of gas and stops on it's own. From then on, everything should be normal..... normal..... normal.

Question : How do you switch from gas to electric in your home?
I am buying a home and it has a gas stove and gas powered washer/dryer. All of the appliances I would be bringing with me are electric. Do you have to get someone to re-wire the house? Or is there another way to do this?
Answer:
I assume you are concerned about just your appliances, not fixtures in the house like the furnace or water heater.
If the proper outlets are already on the wall, then all you have to do is plug the electric appliances in (and of course cap off the gas lines). No big deal. Many appliance retailer / installers can do this for you. If the proper outlets are not on the wall, then you will have to call an electrician.
Most houses I've seen that have both gas and electric service are set up for both gas and electric appliances so a consumer can easily use either.
I hope this helps. Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.

Question : Lots of gas in the oil resevior of Honda power washer???
I have a power washer with an 11hp honda OHV motor that recently broke down. It would run for a few seconds and blow a ton of smoke then stall. It wouldnt start again for about an hour and the same thing would happen. I started working on it and found that oil was coming out of the crankase breather hose back into the airbox...lots of oil. When I drained the oil I realized that there was a ton of gas in the oil..seemed like it was 40% gas. Any ideas how gas could be getting into the oil resevoir?
Thanks!
Answer:
Youre lucky you didnt blow the motor up. When gas overflows the carb and finds it way into the oil - it thins it out enough to where the oil wont lubricate anymore and ruin the berings.
The gas is overflowing the float bowl - number of things causing this? Dirty carb, bad float. Id remove and clean the carb thouroughly - all the lil pinholes - everything. Check to see if the float has been saturated with gas ( due to a pinhole- it happens) . The fuel needle seat could have dirt in it. The reason why it pushed it all out thru the breather is it didnt have anywhere else to go , when it overflowed it overfilled the oil and spit it out thru the breather.

Question : Gas powered pressure washer dies when pressure is turned on?
It runs fine, but whenever you turn the pressure on to wash, it dies. WTF is wrong with it?
Where's that and how do I un-stick it!?
Yeah, I thought about that but it's a Sears brand washer. Wal Mart doesn't sell them.
Answer:
Sounds like a lack of pressure built up in the pump. Let the unit run for a while before you pull the trigger on the gun.

Question : i have a gas powered pressure washer for some reason its coming out with any pressure right now what can it be
the engine starts no problem. but for some reson it just stoped shooting out with good [resure what should i check is it something big that i ahve to send back to comapny or is there some thing i can try to fix myself its a brig&straton 2200 psi gas powerd presure washer any info can be helpful thanks.
Answer:
The seals are wearing out in the pump. I often rebuild this sort of thing. Besides saving the cost of a new washer, you'll be helping the environment. Our throw-away society is dumping millions of pounds of stuff in landfills that could be fixed and used for countless more years.
First thing you need to do is seperate the engine from the pump. There should be (on most motors) four nuts and bolts that run through the engine, frame and pump. Take them out. Sometimes you have to wiggle and pull to seperate everthing. Now turn the pump over. Don't take the plate off that is closest to the engine. It won't hurt anything, but you'll just lose the gear oil out of it. Take the bottom plate off. Just remove the four or six bolts from the bottom and pull the two halves apart. One removed, you'll see (depending on the model) anywhere between two and five approximately quarter size rubber washers. Also you'll see from two to six smaller rubber O-rings. Take all these with you down to Sears or a local small engine repair shop and get or order replacement parts.
Now to put it back together. First you'll need to remove all the scale and deposits on both sections of the pump. You can do this with some kind of chemical cleaner, or I just make with some light use of a wire brush nd water to rinse. It's also a good idea to back-flush everything while you've got it apart. Put the new seals and O-ring back in the same places you took the old ones out. Carefully, being sure not to knock any of your new seals out of place, put the two halves back together and tighten the bolts down securely.
To put everything back together with the frame and engine, place the engine on the frame and run two bolt down through the frame to hold it back in place. Now, preferrably with a helper holding the engine in place so it doesn't want to fall off the frame, tilt the frame back. Stip the pump up on the engine shaft, lining up the keyway. Then turn it to line up all four bolt in the same position as it was originally. Install bolts and nuts and tighten securely.
Good luck. If it's your first time rebuilding a pump, its really not hard at all. Just take your time and remember how everything was while disassembling. Be patient and its a snap. I've rebuilt these things in the past for less the ten bucks. That's a whole lot cheaper than a new pressure washer.

Question : Gas powered pressure washer dies when pressure is applied?
It runs fine until you turn the pressure on, and then it dies.
Answer:
Sounds like too much air going into the carb to me. Does the model you have require the plastic hose for solutions be attached to the inlet, brass looking thing. Attach it and see, if not check hose connections, if not secure, air to carb will do just what you have described. good luck
