After a few problems, it works as a decent power washer

I was in need of a power washer and saw this on Amazon, so figured I'd pick it up for the pretty decent price over an electric washer. The washer arrived and a week later I planned on cleaning my deck with it. Assembly instructions are downright TERRIBLE, and operating manual is downright TERRIBLE. Being an engineer, it was easy to figure out without the help of the manuals. Went and bought some 30 weight oil, some gas, filled the oil and gas as required, and started attaching the quick-connects. The plastic quick connects are TERRIBLE. When tightened securely by hand, the connections leaked like a sieve. When tightened further with tools, the threads stripped. Off to Lowes to pick up some brass connections and a male-to-female adapter for the part on the power washer.

Water connected, gas filled, oil filled, ready to go! Choke on, engine fired up, choke off, cleaning started. One minute later the unit stalls. Check everything again, all is ok. Started right up. 45 seconds later, engine stalls again. Check everything again, unit is level, fire it up again, start cleaning. About 2 minutes into cleaning I figured the engine just need to warm up, but then again, it stalled. This continues for the next half hour and I give up. Nothing in the manual solves my problems. All electrical connections look fine. Throttle, choke, air filter, etc. look fine. Can't figure out why it stalls.

I shoot off an email to Amazon and they rectified the situation to my satisfaction 100% with no issues. New unit arrives. I fill it with gas, fill it with oil, use the brass connections to hook up to hose, fire it up and it runs. I start cleaning, and 20 minutes later it is still running!

When the unit works, it works like a charm. I cleaned my siding, cleaned my deck, cleaned my walkways, etc. etc. The relief valve/plastic drain hose on the pump is too long and gets annoying, and the suction hose for cleaning solution is long and always gets loose, but I just wrap it around the pump housing and twisty tie it until I need to use it. Otherwise, if you get a unit that works, it's great! Just be weary if you think you'll need to rely on the manual for assembly and operation, and don't be surprised if you receive a dud like several other reviewers, including myself, received.

It's worth to try

I read a few review before buying this and was trying to take my chance on this, since some of the review was bad. To my surprise it wasn't that bad. It took my a few hours to figure out how the machine worked but that's because I have no clues on how to use this. The main thing is to fill it up with oil (Duh....), once you ave that fill, no problem. The price is not bad and the machine is quite strong to use at home. Well good luck on the next customer, but I think it's a good one. On the long who knows.

Unreliable, too many defective units

I had the same problem as another Amazon buyer. Would work for 15-30 secs then just stop running for no reason. Spent hours starting it over and over, no luck. No contact number/e-mail or anything available for the manufacturer through Amazon or Google search. Stay far away from this product because if you have a problem you won't be able to contact the manufacturer. Amazon gave me a 100% refund and I am satisfied.

Amazon is no help when it comes to this item.

Amazon should stop selling Blue Max products! No warranty certificate in package. No contact information to order missing parts. Mine was missing the 10mm bolt and the wand! Amazon offered to send a new one to me then sent me an email stating I had to contact the manufacturer. I have now called Amazon 2 times and have been unable to resolve the issue. Furthermore, there was oil in my unit and the box was taped up poorly, SOMEONE HAD RETURNED ONCE ALLREADY!

So far so good

I purchased this product as birthday gift for my boyfriend. He absolutely loved it. He immediately put it together, there was a bolt missing...and the instructions arent very good. I was confused but he forged on determined to get it working before we had to depart for dinner. Unfortunately he couldnt use it that evening because he had to buy a hose adapter to hook up to the machine. After all that he started it up with no problems and washed my car :) It took one pull to start it and one turn of the on/off switch to stop it. He couldnt be happier and neither could I. It cleans his dirt bikes really well and it will be better in the winter for that too instead of his hands freezing from the hose. I am very happy with this product.

Magic Wand

Two problems. During shipping the crate must have spent some time on it's side as the cylinder was full of engine oil and hydrau-locked. Needed a plug out purge and now only runs with the air filter out. Not a fault of Excell though.

However, during the first use the gun/wand were dropped onto grass from waist height and the wand bent. On trying to straighten it the wand broke off. Pressure delivery tube in the centre of the gun has been threaded on the end to accept a brass coupler and the die-cut threads are almost through to the inside diameter of the tube so no wall thickness and a subsequent weak spot.

DeWalt/Excell reluctantly replaced the $50 gun but it still feels inherently weak and flexes under normal use. Otherwise the rest of the rig is heavy duty and the Honda motor runs well.

Great product but also accurate buyer feedback.

Excell 2800 PSI 2.6 GPM 190cc 6.0 HP OHC Honda GC190 Gas Powered Pressure Washer #XC2800 The two reviews I read regarding the Excell 2800 power pressure washer were dead-on accurate. Just got mine today and as the one review states, I can't stop using this thing! Lucky the dog wasn't close by this morning! It is a very well made product with a Honda engine and exceptional pump, the two prime ingredients. The other review was also accurate regarding this washer being shipped with oil in the crankcase. I was fortunate in reading this because mine also had oil in the air filter and inside the shipping container. Having been alerted to this issue by the feedback, I check the air filter BEFORE starting the engine and cleaned up the oil with paper towels. Had a little smoke on starting but worked as expected after that. Customer feedback is THE reason I buy through Amazon.com and it worked again!!

Beware Getting This Item Shipped!!!

I have not been able to use this product because FedEx must have turned the box on its side at some point and all of the engine oil spilled out. When I tried to run the thing, burning oil and smoke spewed out of the exhaust and the engine ran improperly. At the very least, it looks like the air filter is soaked in oil. God knows what other parts have been compromised by the shoddy shipping and or storage. So...THEY SHIP THIS PRODUCT WITH OIL IN THE ENGINE! BEWARE! Now I am forced to go through customer service hell to figure out how to return this thing, which has gasoline in it now. Why they just do not include a small bottle of oil to add before your first use is beyond me. Before you use the pressure washer, make sure no oil leaked out. If you see any sign of oil in the box or on the unit, SEND IT BACK IMMEDIATELY. Do not compound the mistakes by trying to run it and hope for the best like I did.

power to spare!!

I recently purchased the Excell Honda driven power washer and can't stop using it!! It has tackled all the jobs large and small with ease, Easy set up and use, makes quick work out of many jobs, from washing vehicles to cleaning fish pond equipment, this pressure washer does it all! Very happy with this purchase. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for a versatile power washer.

DO NOT SHIP WITH OIL IN THE ENGINE!!!

My unit was also turned upside down and oil was everywhere. After a week of trying, I finally got the engine to run. I had to remove the carb fuel bowl to dump the oil, the air filter and housing was full of oil and the spark plug was fowled. Quite the mess I would not have expected. As was stated by another disappointed review, common sense says send the oil in a bottle for the user to install.

Good tool!

We received this pressure washer yesterday, and it was a snap to put together, with the exception of the first step, which is to install the handle. It took a rubber mallet and lots of muscle to force the handle into the machine, but once there, I don't suspect it will ever come out. The machine works great and Karcher has a good reputation (so does the Honda engine), so we hope to have it for years to come.

Supreme Power

As a point of disclosure I did not purchase my power washer from Amazon. Actually I didn't buy mine at all! I cashed-in some hotel points for the unit. Sweet.

The Karcher power washer is the gold standard when it comes to this type of device. The unit arrived via UPS LTL Freight on a small-ish pallet. When I got home that evening I tore into the box to free the beast. Almost immediately I was impressed. The unit was VERY well packed and protected in its cardboard sarcophagus. Obviously they give thought and care as to the packing.

Only slight assembly was required which was a snap... just the legs, handle, hose and gun needed assembly. With a splash of gas and some engine oil (furnished in the box) I was ready for some power washin' fun!

Being the kind of guy that I am I needed to experiment with EACH nozzle to see what their capabilities are. The included pamphlet describes the nozzles accurately.

The unit has extreme power, is fairly quiet and very stable when it's running.

Start-up and shut down are easy and the hose and gun store nicely on the unit.

Overall I give this supremely high marks. An excellent machine even if you have to pay for it... ;)

GREAT WASHER UNTIL REPAIRS NEEDED

The pressure washer provided excellent service for two years but when the water pump began leaking, the problem of repairing the washer have proved insurmountable.

First; Karcher provides "local" service centers (all were forty miles or more from my residence) but most seem to be persons with full-time employment who dabble in small engine repair in their spare time. The remainder have disconnected phones.

Second; The online seller that two years ago offered only Karcher pressure washers is not selling any Karcher products. That endorsement rings loud and clear that something is wrong with Karcher pressure washers.

Third: An investigation of pressure washer pumps uncovered that Karcher uses the cheapest pump available: Direct Drive Axial pumps. A new pump sells costs around $150-200.00 and other users discourage attempting to repair or rebuilt the pump.

More expensive pressure washers use a comet pump but it is not apparent that it can replace the axial pump on a Karcher pressure washer. However, one reviewer of the Karcher stated a comet had been installed on a Karcher with success.

This pressure washer is very good when it works, but unless you have experience working on small engines and/or do not need the pressure washer longer than two years, this is not one to buy.

Karcher Unit a Disappointment

Purchased a K2400HH unit from Costco for light use around the yard. The Honda engine works like a champ--but the pump is the pits. After only a year, the pump will not engage unless you hold the pressure handle wide open WHILE STARTING--i.e. if you let off the handle while washing and then open it up, the pump will not restart UNLESS you power off the engine. Karcher support was worthless. Local dealer said it would cost as much to repair the pump as buy a new one. I will shift brands on the next sprayer.

Karcher 2400HH

Just purchased the 2400hh at Costco. Tried it right away and was very impressed. No problems at start up or during use. I don't use pressure washers very often, but I can tell you that I have used a much more expensive Landa washer with a much higher hp rating and I could not tell much difference in performance. All the complaining about the oil fill is over-rated. I recommend this product, specially at this price point. Maintenance Supervisor in California.

Some Design Problems now Fixed

After using the product for a number of weeks I am generally very satisfied with its performance. It appears that Karcher has addressed a number of the previous gripes. The tip holder now works great and the wand holder is not a problem. Adding oil is not a problem with the right funnel (your generic funnel won't work). I really like the 50' of hose, this feature with the accessories helped guide my decision. Honda engine runs flawlessly and is quieter than other Brigs or Techum engines. I don't know about the repairs available from a karcher service centers, however I was able to find several in my area by using Karchers web site. (In the event I need a repair) I was hesitant after reading the reviews about buying this but now I am glad I did.

Hasn't held up well to light use

I've been disappointed in this unit, mostly due to the cost cutting measures Karcher seems to have taken in making the pump section. The first one I purchased had a problem with the unloader valve from day 1. I returned it for a replacement, which worked fine for a while. Then after about a year of light use (once every few months) the unloader valve started acting up, and there is no easy way to remove it for cleaning or replacement. Karcher's phone technical support was almost useless. It sounded like they were reading from a script.

The critical portions of the pump are staked into place rather than being screwed in. There is also no way to easily change the lubricating oil in the pump section as Karcher didn't bother to tap the holes for the drain or fill plug areas. It is obvious on the casting where the drain and fill plugs should be, but their is solid aluminum in their place. Other signs of agressive cost cutting abound

The Honda engine is very nice and the cart is ok. After messing with repairs several times I decided to simply replace the pump section with a new Comet pump. It cost me another $150, but I couldn't see throwing a perfectly good engine and cart away with less than 50 hours use on them and the new pump is working beautifully. The best thing about this unit is the powerful and efficient Honda engine. The rest is bargain basement quality.

Question : Oil in the gas tank of our power washer by mistake? What can flush the oil out?
By mistake and excitement oil was put in the gas tank of the new power washer we bought...How can it be flushed out?? We emptied the tank and washed it out with a dry cloth best we could...All info and help would be appreciated.. Right now we have gas in the gas tank but it coughs and pops and sputters like the Absent minded professors old car....hehehe Thanks for the suggestions for how and what to flush this out with.... 8-)

Answer:
You mostly already have. Now remove by siphoning (or some other way) the contaminated gasoline, and refill with fresh gasoline. That should burn a lot better, but use it all the way down to empty, where it actually runs completely out of gas and stops on it's own. From then on, everything should be normal..... normal..... normal.

Question : Gas Power Washer?
What type of oil should I put into the pump, not the motor, on my gas pressure washer? Its a 5hp Excell washer. Thanks to any answers.

Question : How do you switch from gas to electric in your home?
I am buying a home and it has a gas stove and gas powered washer/dryer. All of the appliances I would be bringing with me are electric. Do you have to get someone to re-wire the house? Or is there another way to do this?

Answer:
I assume you are concerned about just your appliances, not fixtures in the house like the furnace or water heater. If the proper outlets are already on the wall, then all you have to do is plug the electric appliances in (and of course cap off the gas lines). No big deal. Many appliance retailer / installers can do this for you. If the proper outlets are not on the wall, then you will have to call an electrician. Most houses I've seen that have both gas and electric service are set up for both gas and electric appliances so a consumer can easily use either. I hope this helps. Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.

Question : Lots of gas in the oil resevior of Honda power washer???
I have a power washer with an 11hp honda OHV motor that recently broke down. It would run for a few seconds and blow a ton of smoke then stall. It wouldnt start again for about an hour and the same thing would happen. I started working on it and found that oil was coming out of the crankase breather hose back into the airbox...lots of oil. When I drained the oil I realized that there was a ton of gas in the oil..seemed like it was 40% gas. Any ideas how gas could be getting into the oil resevoir? Thanks!

Answer:
Youre lucky you didnt blow the motor up. When gas overflows the carb and finds it way into the oil - it thins it out enough to where the oil wont lubricate anymore and ruin the berings. The gas is overflowing the float bowl - number of things causing this? Dirty carb, bad float. Id remove and clean the carb thouroughly - all the lil pinholes - everything. Check to see if the float has been saturated with gas ( due to a pinhole- it happens) . The fuel needle seat could have dirt in it. The reason why it pushed it all out thru the breather is it didnt have anywhere else to go , when it overflowed it overfilled the oil and spit it out thru the breather.

Question : What is the best brand of ELECTRIC power washer? I do not want gas... I've heard McCulloch, is this true?
What is the best brand of ELECTRIC power washer? I do not want gas... I've heard McCulloch, is this true?

Answer:
I got the Husky 1800 PSI electric washer from Home Depot for about $150 a couple years ago. It works great and I've never had a problem with it.

Question : Gas powered pressure washer dies when pressure is turned on?
It runs fine, but whenever you turn the pressure on to wash, it dies. WTF is wrong with it? Where's that and how do I un-stick it!? Yeah, I thought about that but it's a Sears brand washer. Wal Mart doesn't sell them.

Answer:
Sounds like a lack of pressure built up in the pump. Let the unit run for a while before you pull the trigger on the gun.

Question : Gas powered pressure washer dies when pressure is applied?
It runs fine until you turn the pressure on, and then it dies.

Answer:
Sounds like too much air going into the carb to me. Does the model you have require the plastic hose for solutions be attached to the inlet, brass looking thing. Attach it and see, if not check hose connections, if not secure, air to carb will do just what you have described. good luck

Question : I have a gas powered pressure washer made by karcher,?

Is it my unreloader or bypass, I have had it apart and it has oil in the resovoir but am lost from there?

Answer:
go to the web page for some help they can assist you

Answer:
Ours has a HONDA engine. Been very dependable and has great variances in degree of pressure. Possibly Consumer Reports has a write up and rating on Power washers. You can get a copy at the library if not available on-line.

Question : Iam in the market for a gas powered pressure washer with 3000psi and about 2.5 gpm who makes the best one?
