Does the Job
I read all the reviews before buying this and agree with the positive reviews. It's powerful enough to clean my decks, shed, and siding. It's also quieter than I thought it would be. It's very compact and easy to carry around. Since I've only used it twice so far, my only concern would be the one year warranty which is unfortunately standard with most products these days.

Amazingly Effective Tool!
Having never used a power washer, I had no expectations. But, I did have a large brick patio and walkway that had become covered in moss, being in the shade all the time. So, following instructions, I simply started to use this tool. And for FOUR HOURS I ran it continuously, stopping only to catch a breath. It never missed a beat. It removed all the moss, leaving beautiful red bricks. But one must be able to hold the wand in exactly the correct position for it to work (only a few inches away in the case of the strongly attached moss). Also, the spray pattern is continuously adjustable from a mist to a jet, and this is very useful to get the precise pattern. For example, the whole side of the house became covered with debris, but a quick misting washed it all down. Cautions: Use a mask, as the backspray can damage eyes. Use work clothes or just a bathing suit, as you WILL become covered with debris. The spray head can also become a bit clogged with debris, but a simple twist while spraying clears it. This is a great tool that didn't stop working--worth the price.

Automatic Fail
Item was received missing parts and the instruction manual. Instruction manual is not available online. Navigating the McCulloch site to discover that parts were missing was not particularly convenient.
I don't know how long it will take to get the missing parts, but now I am faced with borrowing or renting another one while waiting. Arriving DOA counts as an automatic fail by my reckoning.

Good little washer
Great for small jobs. At the narrowest setting it cut my toe (don't ask), and damages wood (the wood flakes), so its plenty powerful. At the wider settings it looses power quickly, so you end up with a fairly narrow stream, which means it takes longer.
I guess a more powerful pressure washer, you can go wider and keep good cleaning pressure, so you can go faster, but they are a lot more money... This is great value for the money if you want to stay in the 2 digit price range, and has plenty of power

Excellent Product
This is an incredibly good electric power washer for the money. It is almost as good as my Honda gas power washer, and it is much quieter and more convenient to use. It is small, easy to store and there is no gas to buy. I am very pleased with it and have no hesitation recommending it.

Great pressure washer!
I bought this for my husband early April 2008, after reading reviews online. And we are VERY HAPPY with it. He pressure washed all our fences before we stained them, then washed a patio, a driveway, our pool filters numerous times, the siding on our house, etc. and he loves it. The pressure is very good, he's happy with the level of pressure he gets on the adjustable nozzle (some cheap models lose decent pressure if you choose a wider spray), and he liked that he could roll up the hose on the back of the unit when he was done, and I was extremely happy with the price.

Piece of CR--AP - try calling their support !
Got this JUNK from the Thank You network. It failed even the assembly test - the thing is so badly manufactured that the connection to which the pressure hose connects on the body of the washer was completely misaligned. There was no way I could connect the nozzle. OK - I thought it happens. I tried to call their 1-800-521-8559 support number and was on hold for 42 Minutes both on the Customer Service and Sales lines and then they cut me off. I did not even talk to a human! Their website is a joke. This is a typical bottom of the barrel Chinese company trying to dump poorly built stuff on the consumer. DO NOT BUY this and encourage such companies that dont give a hoot about the customer.
I'm returning this and telling every retailer to dump this. AM

Do not buy this Brand!!!
I was originally pleased with the make of the washer but the connector between the washer and hose broke, when i ordered the replacement parts it took them over 1 "YEAR" to get the replacement parts to me. That is not a typo and i find it ignorant that it took that long to replace a plastic part that they should have had mass produced with plenty of spares. Do not buy, the customer service is horrible and the machine breaks easily, not to mention to get it fixed takes a year.

Works like a charm
Since my old power washer finally failed on me (4+years old) I decided I needed a new one. I read lots of reviews and certainly didn't want to purchase one that would stop working after a few uses.
I finally decided on this McCulloch. The price was about right and the power was sufficient (18OO PSI). I didn't need anything more powerfull than that.
When the McCulloch came it was very easy to assemble and start using. I've used it for lots of "spring cleaning" projects and I love it.
The only minor complaint I have is a design one. It doesn't seem to have a very good way to store the Power Washer Hose. There are some "hooks" on the front\back, but these are lacking in the ability to keep the hose attached properly. Otherwise I'd probably give this 4 1/2 stars if I could.

JUst What the Doctor Ordered
Works perfectly any problems I had were self inflicted the design is very good and well worth it never owned another so can't compare.
I have only used for about 6 hours and so far perfect.
Not much to say except for the general tasks I purchased it for namely 1)Cleaning the years of dirt and algae off my deck (moderate size) so I could seal it did an excellent job just takes time but plenty of power just a narrow high pressure stream as expected. LOL: I cleaned the top of the deck perfectly not knowing that I was not using it correctly and did not dispense the cleaner and it had more than enough pressure to clean the deck without the cleaner. With the cleaner even better :-) 2) Clean the grunge off my foundation excellent job. Adjustable pressure nozzle works great so easy to lower pressure near siding so as not to damage the finish while using full high pressure to clean the concrete. 3) Reclaimed an older outdoor plastic table I gave up for lost it cleaned it with only a little post cleaning with Clorox by hand (Clorox would destroy the power washer) to get the mildew off now looks like new. 4) On low pressure did a great job cleaning the cars all you have to do is wipe them down after to avoid spotting but this is always needed great time saver. Just a cross Section of what I have done so far and did a great job on all highly recommended hope this gives you an idea of this products capability and versatility.
Negative is that it uses a 1:7 mixture for cleaner which means with the small on board tank it runs out real quick (but easy to re-fill so no biggie and the pressure hose is necessarily stiff and hard to store it on the un it they need more tiedowns but it is still good enough as is.
Hope you find this useful. OH Get at least an 1800 PSI spend the extra less pressure will take more time per job and did need full pressure for stubborn dirt.

Helpful tool
This machine is great for light and medium duty. Easy to use, portable, and plenty powerful enough for most every-day power-washing jobs. I like the long power cord and hose, and the rotating nozzle is a nice feature. This is one less gasoline engine I have to maintain! Definitely worth the $150 I paid. And I trust the McCulloch name.
2 things that would make this a 5-star product: A longer handle and beefier wheels to make it easier to wheel from place to place. (Although it is certainly light enough to carry)

Gives me years of service
I got this 2+yrs ago when it was at $165 and I have been very satisfied with its performance and feel I got every penny worth.I use the machine at least once a week during warm months, and now I finally ordered a female hose connector, as the threads are almost worn out. The unit never failed and looks as new. It is build solid, with quality, despite its cute look. I had washed my deck, outdoor furniture, cars, driveway, buckets, tile, house foundation walls - you name it. It gets most stains out from my concrete sidewalk...The stepping stones look brand new now.
1750 PSI is the most versatile spec for regular house clean up and doesn't strip the pain off my cars. I always have it on MAX and seem to never bother with the pressure regulator.
The TURBO lance is my favorite attachment, followed by the Adjustable lance. I wasn't impressed much by soapy-foamy business - not that it didn't work, but I just feel there is no need for that in most applications and too much hassle to set up.
The unit is heavy,so it doesn't tip over. However, it is still liftable and wheels nicely (I'm 125lb). The handle is ergonomic. The electric cable is long, PLUS the hose it long too, so you are not moving this thing much during your work. The noise level is fairly low (like a shop vac).
All the parts numbers are in the manual and you can find and order them from their website - not many companies have such support. There are additional few attachments on the website that didn't come with the unit.
I highly recommend this unit for all typical household needs. It will cut your work in half.

Amazing machine
This pressure washer worked too good for me. It gave me no problems. I am a skepticle person, so I read all the reviews from everybody and used to my advantage. I unpacked it 4 days after I received it, plugged it into the garage plug point, connected to the garden hose and voila! No issues with power cut-off or anything. What impressed me was that it uses very little water and jet streams it at great speed. It practically sat there silent until I press the trigger to spray. In the past 2 months that I have had this, I have cleaned all four sides of sidings of my house, my patio, the steps outside the front door, and the little bit of brick wall at the entrance. I had green moss on the steps, that came out and the steps look brand new. 2 years back, my son had spilled a whole can of stainer for wood on the patio, those cleaned up as if it never happenned. I love this machine and my family is very proud of my purchase. I am completely satisfied with the Sistema pressure washer.

Electric Pressure Washer
Washer worked normally for about an hour, then the motor started to overheat popping the circuit breaker. After cool down, it would run for a short period before stopping again. Each cooldown produced a shorter and shorter work period before stoppage. Skip this one unless you like a lot of breaks.

Do not buy a McCulloch pressure washer
McCulloch pressure washers have a fragile plastic part that links the generally robust metal motor and metal pump to the pressure switch that cuts power to the motor when pressure is attained. In operation, the plastic part is prone to bursting -- and if it does you can't replace it.
I have an older model that is just beyond warrantee. In NORMAL OPERATION the plastic part burst. I am told that my model is no longer made, that many people ask for this part, and they are SOL. I am also told that McCulloch pressure washers are still made with this plastic linkage.
This likely explains Jazzman's problem.
By the way, McCulloch was purchased by the Taiwan company Jenn Feng.

Not enough "umph"
I still went ahead and bought this 1400PSI McCulloch, even though I had doubts that 1400PSI may not be enough power for removing black mold off of my backyard concrete (I'm a sucker for low prices). Evaluation: After working with the machine various time, this 1400PSI McCulloch just doesn't have enough "umph". The black mold and stains remain. That said, I like the functionality of McCulloch. The machine is well designed, easy to assemble and easy to use. Overall, 1400 PSI is not enough for serious work around the house. If you just want to wash off your car, or hose down your deck, then this would be a good machine. But, if occasionally, you need to get down and dirty then buy more pressure than this machine gives. You get what you pay for
I used this thing twice for about 6 hours total. The third time it simply lost it's pressure and would not stay on. I called the 800 number printed right on the unit and waited for 35 minutes... no answer. I don't know about the rest of you out there... but when I have invested too much time and the company won't talk to me when I call... I have to throw in the towel because I could be doing something productive. Chalk it up "you get what you pay for. What was I thinking? $78.99 for a pressure washer? It WAS too good to be true. I can't recommend this thing unless you only plan to use it once and throw it away. You That's what I am doing. Sorry McCullough... I don't have time to wait 35 minutes for you to tell me where to take the unit and then wait 10 days or more to get it fixed.

Great power washer for the price
I needed a power washer for cleaning my patios and to wash off the house to prep for paint and gave this one a chance based on the reviews and great price and am very happy with it so far. Today I cleaned a brick patio then a flagstone patio, both were dirty and the flagstone had some mold. I used the wide tip and making 6" swipes, the 140A cleaned them quickly & easily, even took off some dried caulking I got on the flagstone a while ago. It cleaned better than a 1700psi Karcher I borrowed from a friend last time I cleaned the patios. I am a tool person, I fix anything and everything myself and I would recommend this washer to any homeowner who wants to clean stuff once in a while. It's small but powerful. The included jet spray head has a rotating 1/8" spray that will get whatever the wide head doesn't. I did use it on the house a little and it will worked fine to wash off the dirt and spider webs in one foot swipes. I don't think it was too loud, no high pitched whine, just a whirling like a good vacuum cleaner.
Pros - inexpensive, small, light and powerful, two heads, can add soap to water line. Cons - water line to handle is very stiff plastic tubing, handle can not lock "on"

No Hands on Deck
I'm assuming if you're buying this entry-level machine, you're not a born Handy Sandy or Handy Andy with every mechanical toy in the world. If you're like me, you can barely screw in a switchplate without denting or cracking it.
I just used my McCulloch 1400 for the first time, and it was actually much better than I thought it would be. I used it to powerwash our 13'x17' opaque-stained deck.
I had never used a pressure washer before so I wasn't totally sure what to expect. I had heard warnings of pressure washers blasting out knotholes and carving hieroglyphic-like patterns in innocent backyard decks, so I took it slowly by experimenting in a corner of the deck with various nozzle settings at a variety of angles and distances from the target spot. I got the hang of it within 10 minutes.
The washer itself was ridiculously easy to set up out of the box. The unit is about the size of a canister vacuum, and it's very easy to work with. The wand can be used in a couple of lengths, and the power nozzle can be adjusted for anything from a concentrated, pinpoint spray to about a three- or four-inch width depending on how far you hold the nozzle from the surface.
It's on the noisy side, but certainly nowhere near as noisy as a big, gas-driven washer. The only thing I had a problem with was the detergent bottle dispenser thingy (that's the technical term; I don't know how to describe it generically). I never did get it connected right, but, then again, when I started working without bleach/water solution I realized the machine didn't need any chemical assistance. The 4-year growth of mold, mildew, dirt, grime, bbq grease, and everything else, washed off easily. I even found that by working carefully I could strip off almost all the opaque stain and leave a nice, clean surface to take a fresh, new finish.
I probably wouldn't recommend it for a deck larger than mine; there are bigger machines available that would be better suited.
Oh, one more thing: Before I ordered this, I got two quotes from professional power washer people, both of which came in at roughly triple the cost of this unit. It's already paid for itself and more.

Questions & Answers
Question : Can an electric power washer be used with an extension cord? If not, why not?
I have a heavy duty 100 ft extension cord and want to buy an electric power washer. I keep reading reviews that say that they can not be used with an extension cord. However, because of outlet placement, I have to. Is there a guage cord I could use?
Answer:
Small wire cords will cause a voltage drop and can burn up the motor in the power washer, voiding the warranty. A larger cord will not cause a voltage drop. You need to know the amps required by the washer.
A cord 100 feet long will give you this many amps without a serious voltage drop:
#10 12 amps at 120 volts
#12 8 amps at 120 volts
#14 5 amps at 120 volts
most heavy duty cords are #14

Question : how much pressure from an electric power washer will take the paint off of my car?
I'm looking for an electric power washer to clean my cars, driveway, house siding etc. But I'm worried that too much pressure could harm what I want to clean.
Answer:
I don't think the pressure is the problem, I think the attachment, and what degree sprayer you are using makes the difference...Now obviously pressure affects it some, but if you use a 0 degree sprayer, you are going to remove paint, but go to a wider angle, and keep about a 16" distance from your car, and you should be ok.

Question : I have a large bathroom in my office. Is it possible to use an electric power washer to blast away dirt?
I saw one on sale for $200 in Lowes. How can you use an electric power washer indoors and hook it up to the water so I can blast away in the bathroom.
Answer:
If the bathroom is in your office, they should have a department called maintenance, housekeeping, or janitor.....They should take care of it. A power washer has too much power for indoor use it can blow the walls out....So call maintenance so you don't lose your job for blowing down walls and save that $200........Plus you asked these question twice in one day, you must have just moved in recently. I suggest if you want to keep your office maintenance is the way........
Think Twice about what you do...........

Question : "Karcher" residential electric power washer's motor does not start.?
Power supply is o.k. No visible damage to extention cord attached to console.
Answer:
First off, you'll not be happy with this pressure washer. It's a toy. I ended up selling mine and buying a "real" one (gas engine model).
The Karcher unit first must be hooked up to a full-flow water supply. Do not use a hose less than 5/8". 3/4" is better yet. After you turn on the hose, hold the gun lever open to FULLY purge the unit of air bubbles. Now, turn it on. Make certain you've a live power source and that the in-line (at the plug) breaker is not tripped). It is designed to turn off the motor when pressure builds within the unit as you turn off the gun. When you squeeze the trigger, it restarts. (Sell it!)

Question : husky power washer 1800 psi ?
I have a new electric husky power washer 1800 psi and the problem i am having is that i go to use it on high pressure to do my deck and after about 5 minuets the pressure shuts off. I wait for about 5 minuets of so and then it will kick back on and i can use it. I notice that if i start and stop i can go a little longer but it is kinda irritating. I want to just go at it but i cant cause the pressure starts and stops. anyone had this problem ?
Answer:
i've not had this problem, but u should try a little mechanic work on it! try the filters, drain the gas and put new pas in it.... u get the picture! has it ever been stored over the winter? the old gas might have gummed up in the engine....very bad.....take stuff apart and see if u can find the problem!
